Transition LPN to RN option:

The Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (LPN-to-RN Transition) concentration courses can be completed in as little as three-semesters. The program is for students who are already Licensed Practical Nurses and who successfully pass the required competency skills, exams, and meet the admission requirements, including academic pre-requisites or equivalents.

The entire Transition LPN to RN Associate of Science Degree in Nursing Program must be completed within two years from the initial enrollment date.

Admission Requirements for Transition LPN to RN Option:

  1. Meets all general college admission requirements.
  2. Complete College and School of Nursing program application.
  3. 17 years of age or older at the time of the first class.
  4. Proof of Graduation – Any one of the following are acceptable:
    • College transcript – Associate Degree or higher, or an equivalent of 60 semester credits or greater from agencies recognized by the United States Department of Education.
    • Official high school transcript
    • High school diploma
    • G.E.D. Certificate
    • Degrees from outside the United States – must be translated into English and evaluated by an approved agency and notarized.
  5. Official college transcripts on file for all colleges attended and courses taken for transfer (must be received two weeks before the end of the first term.)
  6. GPA of 2.0 or “C” or higher for all general education and nursing concentration (core) courses required within the degree plan.
  7. Minimum passing score of 15 on the Wonderlic Scholastic Level Exam.
  8. Negative Drug Screen.
  9. Cleared Criminal Background Investigation.
  10. Ability to meet the Clinical Requirements policy.
  11. Unencumbered Florida Practical Nursing license (for LPN to RN Transition applicants.)
  12. Recommendation from the Nursing Admissions Committee.
  13. *Minimum passing score of 75% math and 75% English composite on the HESI A2 Assessment prior to the start of Nursing concentration (core) Classes.

* The HESI A2 assessment will not be an admissions requirement, but a pre-requisite to start the nursing concentration (core) classes. All HESI scores must be on file and reviewed by the nursing admissions committee before the start of nursing core. Failure to achieve the minimum score on the second attempt will prevent the student from taking the nursing core classes, and the student will be dropped from the nursing program.
